GWAPE Blog 1

This is a picture of myself that has many symbols representing pieces of me, and who i wish to become.  My Ukulele represents my absolute love and intense passion for music.  I currently play three instruments, Piano, Ukulele, Trombone, and I am learning the Trumpet.  The Christmas themed tie represents how I stand out from the crowd, The tie is a bright red with many blues and yellows, on the white background of my shirt, which represents the rest of the student body.  The match that I am holding is what I wish to become.  I want to leave behind a blazing fire, something intense that burns my image into one's memory.  Something that people will want to remember me by.

One way I could achieve this goal is through my love of music.  I do not mean to boast, but I believe I was born with musical talent, passed on from my grandmother, that puts me at a level of playing, understanding, and appreciation of music above most others.  If I can continue to hone these skills, and keep practicing, I believe I could become a great musician.  Perhaps so much so that I will do something extrodinary and leave behind an image of myself that way.

Another way that I could transform to leave behind a image of myself is through my individuality.  I stand out in many ways, one is that I have a personality that is much different from most men my age (15), such that I honestly do not care what others could think of my actions that seem silly,  unecessasary, or immature.  When I need to I guarentee that I can be more mature that 95% of the student body, for I have had many expiriences that have caused me to have to grow up more quickly than others.  Antoher way I stand out is through what I enjoy.  As previously stated I love music, mainly on completely different spectrums from other students my age.  I enjoy specifically, Big Band Jazz from the  1930's-1960's,  such as Sinatra, Count Basie, and Nat King Cole.  Hip-Hop from the late 1980's to early and mid 1990's, such as the Wu-Tang-Clan, The Notorious B.I.G.,  Tupac Shakur,  Snoop Dogg (The list goes on).  These are generally not genres appreciated by others my age, as most would prefer modern Hip-Hop or Pop.  And one final way I stand out is through my odd sense of humor.  I find more complex jokes with a funny first impression, but an even funnier undertone.  This is defianlty not something common among teenagers of this era.  For example the comedian Don Rickles, who is of WWII era and is known for making fun of popular modern figures, such as musicians or politicians, which I believe points again to my posession of a higher maturity level than most, even if I dont show it at all times.

  1. James, I really like the way that you set up this picture with all the symbols involved in it. I like that you included your classiness and love and passion for music because you are one classy guy, and you are one great musician. James you definitely will leave a blazing trail behind.

  2. James:
I appreciate the fact that you want to leave behind a "blazing trail" and that you talk about your individuality. Your use of the tie to represent this was very creative in my opinion! As you talked about in your post, you have a "different" personality; especially in the sense of humor. But, it adds to your individuality and makes you more of your own person. Finally, I think that if you really focus on and pursue your love of music, you will be extremely capable of great things in that field; perhaps even do something extraordinary and leave behind an image of yourself, as you earlier stated.

I love all of the creative symbolism you used in this picture. That in it self already proves that you are a creative guy and you stand out from all the other average teenagers. I also like how you included music in your picture because I too like music. You will for sure leave a blazing trail behind with your music because you are already so talented. Finally, I like how you stated that you don't care what others may think of you because that is a big part of remaining who you are.

  4. Well Mr. Hach, I love the ways that you described yourself and I really think that those things make you unique. You said that you have very different musical tastes than most teenagers today and I think I can very much relate to that. We are both in the school Jazz Bands and Big Band Jazz is one of if not my favorite genre of music. You said that you would like to leave a "burning fire" behind after knowing people and I love the wording that you used. That reminds me a bit of Tyler talking to Alyssa. I very much agree with you, I too would really like to have people remember me for a very long time. "They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time" ~Banksy.

  5. Dearest James, I love how much thought you put into this. You can tell it was something you didn't just throw together. I adore what you did with the match, I think it is something you will definitely go on to do. You make me smile every time I see you, and I think that you have this amazing attitude that effects others around you. It's a very great trait. I love your style of music and I love your ambition. Don't ever accept less that what you can be. Be that example to your peers. You are to me.
